Commercial air conditioning systems
Air conditioning can be provided in many forms depending on the type of building being conditioned, space available for plant, the temperature and aesthetic appearance required and of course the budget available. Whether your property is a new build or a listed building, modern air conditioning systems and their controls can provide high energy efficiencies, economic operation and improved air quality thereby reducing your overhead costs and improving your working environment.
If you are looking for a new air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration or heating system, then please feel free to contact us for advice and guidance on the best system for you and your business.
Elliott’s has considerable experience installing and maintaining many different brands of HVAC systems in particular:
Mitsubishi, Daikin, Toshiba, Panasonic, Samsung, LG & Lennox.
We are a Mitsubishi Diamond Quality Partner and a Daikin D1+ business partner which are the highest awards available from these manufacturers allowing us to offer a 10 year warranty period.
We are also a Toshiba T7 installer and a Panasonic Premier solutions partner which allows us to offer a 7 year warranty on these products.
We are one of the few companies in the UK with considerable experience and knowledge of installing and maintain Lennox products.
Comfort Cooling (Split or VRF/VRV)
The following comfort cooling systems are all heat pumps which are all highly efficient and provide heating as well as cooling, generally used within offices and shops etc.
Split systems – the split system is the most basic of air conditioning systems, these are used for small to medium size rooms or offices. The system will provide either cooling or heating at any one time at one fixed temperature, in larger open plan rooms the system can comprise of either a single, twin, triple or quad indoor system with one outdoor unit.
Multi-split – the multi-split system is predominantly used for commercial or residential properties where multiple indoor units can be installed to provide individually controlled cooling or heating functions in different rooms or locations, however please be aware the indoor units will either heat or cool at any one time, in other words you will not be able to run one indoor unit in cooling and another in heating simultaneously. These units are connected to a common outdoor unit.
VRV/VRF systems – similar to multi-split systems, but these systems suit larger facilities as they have a larger heating and cooling capacity and have the flexibility of longer pipe runs along with the potential for increased numbers of indoor units. VRV/VRF systems can also offer simultaneous heating and cooling at any one time, when this occurs the energy is recovered within the system basically providing free cooling or heating. These systems can also be connected to heat pump boilers providing a source for heating the building via a LPHW battery in an AHU, under floor heating or used as a primary source for heating the buildings domestic hot water supply. The VRV/VRF system can also be connected to door curtains.
There are a multitude of different indoor fan coil units to suit most applications.
Ducted AHU installations are mainly used in larger building applications and generally provide fresh air along with the conditioned air. The AHU’s are usually located in a common or various plant rooms throughout the building, one of the benefits of this type of system is that all the maintenance required is carried out from within the plant room and not within the space being conditioned, this is ideal for areas that are highly occupied or have high cleanliness levels such as hospitals etc.
Packaged roof top systems are similar to an AHU, as the name suggests these units are generally located on a roof but can be installed virtually anywhere externally. The systems are a ‘packaged unit’ and comprise of all the elements required to produce either heated, cooled or fresh air or heat recovery all from within one ‘box’. Each system will require an electrical supply, possibly a gas supply and an external control source. The cooling is provided via one or a multitude of DX systems, depending on the capacity of the unit. The systems can also be supplied as heat pumps, therefore also able to provide heating when required. An alternative heat source would be to have a gas fired burner within the unit; these type units are more preferable when you are heating larger buildings as they can have a larger heat output than the heat pump options. This type of system is commonly found serving large buildings such as factories and supermarkets but it can equally be used for open plan offices.
Close control systems are generally installed within ICT suites, server rooms and various types of laboratories where the temperature, humidity and levels of filtration are of utmost importance. These systems are split type comprising of an indoor fan unit within the space or and AHU located elsewhere, this is then connected via pipe work to either a remote water chiller or condensing unit. The cooling medium for these systems is generally chilled water or DX cooling.
